Mirror of life for more than a century in consumerist societies, mass photography has gradually substituted the reflections it produces to reality.

Itself a reflection of rapid technological progress, snapshot photography bears complex proposals: as a narrative tool, it offers the possibility to capture, divide, cut and rebuild life fragment by fragment, with perhaps the promise to appropriate it even more; now virtual and intangible, it challenges our traditional conception of space-time and enables our doubles to inhabit a growing continuum.

Expressing our changing relationship to reality, snapshot photography is also an active force of that change. Snapshot explores this transformation through the perspective of five Belgian and international artists working with techniques as diverse as painting, collage, video or vinyl, and asks the following question: why do we rely so much on images to further our own sight?
