T.S. Eliott’s poem « The Waste Land », published in 1922, marked a radical break in English poetry but also gave voice to the dislocation of traditional European cultural landmarks following the devastation of war. Close to a century later, violence and death are still omnipresent, more visible than ever thanks to the media, but remain largely impalpable for a European continent reluctant to face the world and the wars that consume it. In this group show in the form of a winter reflection, Eliott’s poem converses with the works of six artists questioning death, memory and the possibility of rebirth.
